The medical department at Victoria is made of five medical firms. Each firm consists of  4th and6th year medical students,elective students,Intern and Medical registrar who are over seen by two full time Medical Consulatants and part time Academic Consultant. It is a very efficient department and provides an excellent service to the public it serves,services include:

• +- 50 medical beds
• 3 ICU beds
• Echocardiograms
• Spirometry
• Palliative care
• Twice daily Consultant ward rounds
• Specialist Medical clinics which include, diabetic clinic,rheumatology clinic, asthma clinic, general medical clinic, follow up clinics
• Cardiac rehab program
• Stroke rounds-Lead by Dr L de Villiers(G.S.H)
• X-ray meetings-Lead by Dr R Seggie(G.S.H)
• ICU teaching ward rounds- Dr Turner(@Mill) and Dr J Pearce(G.S.H)
• Registrar teaching program-Mock exam cases, ECG teaching lead by Dr N van der Schyff
• Monthly Academic Meeting- Co hosted by Victoria and 2 milliatry medical departments
• UCT student teaching program and examinations
