About the department
There are 3 qualified Physiotherapists and 1 Physiotherapy Assistant, who are working
together with an excellent multi-disciplinary team. Each physiotherapist is assigned an area
for a period of time and each rotate between each area throughout the year.
The department is open daily from 07h00 – 16h00 except weekends and offers a variety of services.
Neurology
- Stroke and Head injuries
- Assessment & treatment of physical, functional ability
- Family & caregiver training on discharge
- Stroke group held with Occupational Therapy
- Out-patient rehab service offered
Cardiology
- 4 week Cardiac Rehab group run by Physio, Occupational Therapy, Dietician, and doctors
Orthopaedics
- Assessing patients requiring walking aids
- Issuing of appropriate walking Aids
- Mobilisation of patients with walking aids
- See all patients as out patients requiring Rehabilitation post surgery e.g.: ACL repair, Tib/Fib fracture,ankle fractures
- Ergonomics
Paediatrics
- Assessment & treatment of children with Cerebral Palsy, Down Syndrome, Spina Bifida, burns,developmental delays, diplegis etc
- Neurodevelopmental clinic: the last Thursday of every month, for children with a queried diagnosis or those that have not yet been diagnosed
- Sputum collection for infectious diseases
Plastics
- Tendon & nerve injuries – treated according to protocol (splinting & hand therapy provided)
- Hand clinic Mondays with Occupational Therapist
Surgical
- Assess and treat patients requiring chest physio
Neuro-muscula-skeletal:
- Any condition requiring rehabilitation e.g.: Shoulder impingement, Rotator cuff tear
